What Does Animal Farm Represent

What does animal farm represent:George Orwell’s Animal Farm is widely seen as a commentary on the Russian Revolution and associated events, but its profound effect can also be applied to societies all over the world in a variety of ways. Through clever use of allegory, this novella demonstrates how easy it is for an innocent social order to quickly deteriorate into tyranny and oppression if not guarded against by those with truth at heart. From economic hardship to power grabs by certain influential parties, Animal Farm reveals issues that transcend time and place while striking chilling reminders relevant today. Join us in exploring what makes this work so impactful after so many years!

1.  Old Major

The characters of Animal Farm represent the Bolshevik revolution of 1917. They are modeled on real people involved in the revolution. For instance, Mr. Jones is modeled on Czar Nichola the Second. Old Major is based on Karl Marx. And Snowball represents Lenin.

Old Major is the most important character in the book. He is also the most important figure in the animal world. His role in the book is similar to that of a communist in a socialist revolution. In addition, Old Major uses various rhetorical techniques to persuade animals to revolt against their human enslavers.

He is a very wise boar. However, Old Major is also a bit simplistic. Unlike other characters, he is not greedy and never takes anything for himself. On the other hand, he is not a good leader.

2.  Moses,The Raven

In Animal Farm by George Orwell, Moses the raven represents religion and communism. Religion was used as a weapon in the Russian Revolution, and many church leaders were imprisoned.

The raven is named for the prophet Moses in the Bible. A raven normally resides in dark places. However, the raven in Animal Farm does not have to be afraid of humans. It can be tamed and live on a gill of beer a day.

The raven can fly above the clouds. He tells the animals that Sugarcandy Mountain is an alluring Heaven. This mythical place is supposed to provide an afterlife for hard-working animals.

3.  Snowball

The character of Snowball in the classic story Animal Farm is a young pig who has a large intellect and is idealistic. He has a lot of ideas and plans to improve the farm. His plans revolve around education and better conditions for the animals.

Before Animal Farm was founded, Snowball was in cahoots with Farmer Jones. He tries to encourage rebellion on other farms in England. Four pigs were accused of colluding with Snowball.

While Snowball argues that the best way to make animals happy is to have them work, Napoleon has different views. He prefers to punish those who break the rules. It is also said that he is more willing to take advantage of other animals to earn his living.

4.  Muriel

Muriel is a white goat on Animal Farm. She is smart, clever, and somewhat opinionated. However, her main job is to pull the cart for farmer Mr. Jones.

She is also an allegory for a certain bourgeoisie class of Russians that fled the country after the Russian Revolution. Her motto is “Deciphering the better future.”

Another allegory is the Seven Commandments. It is not surprising that a goat would know all of the symbols of the commandments. The Seven Deadly Sins symbolized one of the major sins of communism.

In addition, Muriel is a good representative of the human race. She is not a snob and is willing to make things happen for the greater good.

5.  Rats and rabbits

When two rabbits named Wilbur and Orville were caught in a cat trap, the Animal Rescue League of Iowa staff decided to give them a chance to find a home. It didn’t take long before they were happily ensconced together.

The two animals were rescued from a local animal shelter. Their first meeting was at the shelter’s front door, and they were instantly in love. They snuggled together and groomed each other. After a month of observation, they were put up for adoption.

They were soon adopted by an experienced, caring home. The Animal Rescue League of Iowa staff say the pair are unlikely, but they are a lesson for humans.

6.  Manor farm

Animal Farm is a fictional novel by George Orwell. It is a story of a group of animals who live on a Manor farm in rural England. The farm is owned by a drunk farmer named Mr. Jones, who abuses his workers and the animals who live there.

The animals on the Manor farm decide to revolt against their enslaver. They drive out Mr. Jones and his family, but many things go wrong along the way.

One of the major characters in the novel is Napoleon, a giant pig with an uncanny ability to gain power. He uses intimidation and deceit to become the leader of Animalism.
